Ramesh was born into a loving home in Chennai, India, and grew up in an encouraging atmosphere that instilled a strong work ethic from an early age. He received two advanced degrees, in mathematics and business administration, and came to Philadelphia to start his professional career. Ramaa is from Madurai, India, where her family instilled strong cultural values and a never-say-die attitude toward challenges. She was trained from childhood in Bharatanatyam, a style of classical Indian dance.
After marriage, pursuing careers in the Philadelphia area, Ramesh and Ramaa soon realized that climbing the corporate ladder was creating only frustration and financial insecurity. This lit the entrepreneurial spark within both of them, and they began seeking opportunities to start their own business. Through a friend, they found a business they could get started in their spare time while still working 9-to-5.
After seeing some initial success, they began to devote themselves to their part-time business more seriously, and soon were able to make the decision to go full-time as their own boss. The most rewarding part of working for themselves was being able to schedule their time around their daughters Lavanya Rathi and Sharanya Rasya, and being home for them as they grew up. Ramaa has also found continued acclaim as a teacher and performer of classical Indian dance, an art she is passing on to her daughters as well.
With their success, Ramesh and Ramaa also gives their time and energy to support worthwhile charities. They are especially active supporting Easter Seals and the U.S. Dream Academy because of the programs these organizations have developed to meet the needs of children and returning veterans. They truly understands the value of helping others and have made it a priority in their lives.
Little did they know when they came to the U.S. pursuing “the American Dream,” that they would find the best of both worlds: success as entrepreneurs, and a fulfilling and secure lifestyle as full-time parents.
